Fancy Friday Night Suppers...

♥ Ceri makes...  whipped up a delicious Friday night treat supper for my housemate Jezza & I.  I served some super tender venison loin that had been butchered by my brother at his 'Deer in a day' course,  sealed first on the hob and then roast gently in the oven.  As a side dish to the meat we had my favourite  (and definitely most indulgent)  potato dish ...creamy dauphinoise potatoes,  delicious!

To make these delicious twice baked dauphinoise potatoes at home simply follow my easy instructions...

♥ You will need approx 500-700g of potatoes,  500ml single cream  and approx 150-250g of grated cheese depending on how cheesy you like it (I use cheddar but if you fancy something a little bit different smoked cheese also works very well in this dish)
♥ Pre-heat the oven to 200C, Gas Mark 6.
First you need to peel the potatoes and then finely slice them,  either using a knife or to make things super quick a mandolin slicer.
♥ Put the sliced potato in a large mixing bowl,  pour over the cream and some seasoning.  Give this a good mix with your hands,  then add the grated cheese and again give this a good mix with your hands.
♥ Place the creamy potato mix in a large ovenproof dish and cook for approx 45 minutes,  remove from the oven for around 20 minutes,  then return to the oven for an additional 40-45 minutes or until the potatoes are golden on top  ...alternatively you can pre-cook ahead of dinner and return to the oven for the second baking 40-45 minutes before you are serving.
♥ You are now ready to serve,  enjoy!

Meribel...

♥ Ceri makes...  has just returned from a perfect week skiing in the Alps.  Lots of good food, wine and of course skiing in good company made for a super holiday.

Meribel is such a gorgeous resort,  I highly recommend it  ...I would also recommend Ski Blanc whose cosy chalet we stayed in.  And a BIG thanks again to my lovely friend Rach for organising the trip!

Waxing Lyrical...

♥ Ceri makes...  has rediscovered the joys of candle making!  I spent many a rainy Sunday afternoon creating candles with my Get Set kit when I was little...  Newly inspired by my Kirstie's Homemade Home book I set about creating some rose scented candles.  Instead of following Kirstie's lead with a tea cup I used some vintage glasses from a previous charity shop haul.

With a little bit of patience and an afternoon to spare you can easily make these at home too.  All you need is an old saucepan and a basic candle kit (...I got mine very cheaply on ebay).  The results make gorgeous gifts that both look and smell delightful!
